The Walla Family has been in the Tax Business for 50 Years!

Anton L. Walla, fondly known as Tony, prepared his first professional tax return in the winter of 1971 for the 1970 tax year. By 1983, he had well over 400 clients. Tony didn't have the luxury of a computer to help him prepare returns; instead, his main tools consisted of a pencil and a calculator. His wife, Elaine, individually typed every return and answered the telephones. Tony made house calls to all his clients, many of whom would offer him a sandwich and coffee while he consulted with them. He loved meeting with people and their families and enjoyed the challenge of working for himself. He kept abreast of the ever-changing tax laws and always gave good advice. He was well-liked by so many of his clients.

As his accounting and tax business grew, Tony enlisted the help of his five children. Susan began helping her father in 1979 as a checker. Much to her surprise, she found that she liked preparing taxes. She passed her Enrolled Agent exam in 1983, and officially received her EA license in 1984. Unfortunately, Tony became ill in the fall 1983 and was unable to continue to run his business. Susan took charge in the winter of 1984, and opened an office to receive clients. Susan purchased the business from her father in 1988 and began to achieve her own successes.

By 1987, Susan's sister, Karen, was helping her with bookkeeping and checking tax returns. By now, Susan had purchased a computer, installed a professional tax program and installed an answering machine. Her mother could finally retire and toss the typewriter into the garbage. Tony continued to offer support to his daughter and the business until his death in 1989.
The Walla tax business continues to grow and improve. By 2003, Susan had added Certified Financial Planner to her title and her business really began to take off. In the fall of 2004, Susan moved her office to the Union Meeting Corporate Center in Blue Bell and Karen joined the team full-time. Karen passed the challenging Enrolled Agent examination and IRS background check to become an Enrolled Agent in 2006.
